另一項針對民眾活動量的分析報告則發現,每天經常做包括走路、園藝等溫和運動30分鐘的民眾,較「四體不勤」的民眾,死亡率降低27%;如果每週三次每次至少進行20分鐘激烈運動的民眾,死亡率則大幅降低32%。

研究人員指出,即使每週僅做微量的運動,都有助降低死亡率19%,那些每週運動時間超過七小時的人,死亡率可以大減39%。

專家指出,研究顯示,地中海型的飲食有助延年益壽,即使是體重超重或菸槍,如果能奉行健康飲食,配合運動,也同樣能長壽。
