奇怪了，這件事在不同的福音書中，記載的次序有所不同……
14:3-9 馬太和馬可記載這件事是緊接著最後晚餐前發生的，但約翰卻把這件事放在最後晚餐前一星期，剛好在耶穌光榮地進入耶路撒冷之前。我們要知道福音書的作者介紹耶穌的生平，不是完全按照事件發生的準確日期、時序編排的。他們寫作的目的是要準確地傳達耶穌的信息。馬利亞完全的奉獻和猶大的叛變實在是一個強烈的對比。馬太福音和馬可福音為了突出這點，就在其後記載了猶大賣主。
馬利亞的行為是浪費嗎？
14:6-7 耶穌不是說我們應該忽視窮人，更不是說對他們漠不關心是對的（參太6:2-4；路6:20-21；14:13, 21；18:22）。祂是在稱讚馬利亞對祂無私的敬拜。敬拜基督的精義，是以最大的愛來愛祂、尊敬祂、向祂獻身，並願意為祂奉上最寶貴的東西。
猶大為權？猶大為錢？……
14:10 猶大為甚麼出賣耶穌？猶大也像其他門徒一樣，期望耶穌能發動一次政治叛亂，推翻羅馬政權。作為管錢的，猶大也像其他門徒一樣，深信自己在耶穌的新政府中能佔重要的位置（10:35-37）。不過，馬利亞把一瓶價值相當於一年薪水的香膏澆在耶穌頭上時，竟得到耶穌的稱讚；而當他出言表示不滿時，卻受到耶穌的質問。猶大終於認識到耶穌並沒有政治野心。如果他繼續跟隨耶穌，就得不到金錢和地位。於是他把心一橫，去見祭司長，密謀出賣耶穌，以換取宗教領袖的金錢和歡心。
