罪使人失去了永恆的生命，我對罪有足夠的警醒嗎？2:9, 16-17　經文中所說的生命樹和分別善惡樹是真有其樹嗎？通常有兩種看法：（1）樹是真的，但只有象徵的意義：吃生命樹上的果子象徵有永恆的生命、與神同在；（2）樹是真的，且有特別的性質：亞當夏娃吃了生命樹的果子，就會有永恆的生命，永遠成為神的兒女。無論是哪一種看法，亞當夏娃犯罪，都使他們跟生命樹隔絕，不能得到永恆的生命。將來，當人得到永恆的生命，與神同在時，生命樹就會重現（參啟22章）。
神既給我選擇的自由，我就可以按自己的心意去做——不是嗎？那該……2:15-17　神讓亞當負責看守伊甸園，吩咐他不可吃分別善惡樹的果子。實際上神並沒有採取措施阻止他吃，而是容他選擇，因此他就有可能作出錯誤的抉擇。神讓我們選擇，我們也常常會選擇錯誤，這些錯誤的選擇可能叫我們受苦；但我們能從中得到教訓、變得成熟，以便日後作出較好的選擇。既然要承受後果，我們就應謹慎地作出每一個抉擇。
