7:17 洪水氾濫在地上四十天,水往上長,把方舟從地上漂起。

神應許不再用洪水毀滅全地,祂今天又給了我甚麼應許?
7:17-24 這次洪水究竟是只淹沒某個地區,還是淹沒全世界呢?普世性的洪水是極有可能的,當時的水也足以淹沒所有的旱地,因為地起先也是由水退而成(參1:9)。後來神應許不再用洪水毀滅全地,所以這次的洪水若不是淹沒全地,也必毀滅了地上所有的生物。別忘了神讓洪水來,是要除滅地上的一切邪惡,這就需要特大的洪水來完成。
