馬太福音

22:22	他們聽見就希奇，離開他走了。
22:23	撒都該人常說沒有復活的事。那天，他們來問耶穌說：
22:24	“夫子，摩西說：‘人若死了，沒有孩子，他兄弟當娶他的妻，為哥哥生子立後。’
22:25	從前，在我們這裡有弟兄七人。第一個娶了妻，死了，沒有孩子，撇下妻子給兄弟。
22:26	第二、第三，直到第七個，都是如此。
22:27	末後，婦人也死了。

只對神負責不就足夠了嗎？
22:21　耶穌指出我們有雙重的公民身分（參彼前2:17），這就避過了法利賽人和希律黨人設下的陷阱。我們在國家裡的公民身分要求我們為了所得的服務和福利而納稅；我們在天國裡的公民身分要求我們的心靈對神服從和委身。

22:23-33　當法利賽人和希律黨人陷害耶穌失敗之後，撒都該人沾沾自喜地接著嘗試。他們不相信復活的事，因為在五經（創、出、利、民、申）中沒有直接教導復活的事，法利賽人不能根據五經找出復活的有力論據。撒都該人以為他們肯定可以難倒耶穌，但耶穌又駁倒他們（22:31-32）。

丈夫死了，妻子怎可以輕易嫁給丈夫的兄弟？
22:24　律法說如果婦人的丈夫死去而沒有兒子，她丈夫的兄弟就有責任娶這個寡婦並且照顧她（參申25:5-6），這是為了保護孤苦伶仃的寡婦，因為在當時的社會裡，寡婦往往沒有其他辦法維持生活。（有關摩西的資料，請參出14章的人物介紹。）
