我和她聊了一會兒，接著她突然靜了下來、拉過毯子往身上蓋，我猜她大概想睡了吧。我趕緊抓住這段空檔，拿起手邊的雜誌，但雜誌都還沒攤開，我便感到有個小人兒向我靠了過來，於是我低頭看她，這時她伸出小手，對我說：「嘿，我們做朋友好不好？」
在那一刻，我整個心都融化了。「當然好哇，」我對她說：「我們做朋友吧！」
在紛擾不堪的生活中，有時我們只想獨自靜一靜時，耶穌卻伸出他釘痕的手，邀請我們做他的朋友。他這麼說：「我乃稱你們為朋友，因我從我父所聽見的，已經都告訴你們了」（約翰福音15章15節）。這時我們可以做選擇：將他拒之門外，或是打開心門，歡迎這位帶來無限之愛與引導的好朋友。JS

A New Friend
READ: John 15:9-17
I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. —John 15:15
While flying from Europe back to the US, I found myself sitting next to a little girl who never stopped talking from the moment she sat down. She told me the history of her family and all about her puppy, who was in the hold of the plane. She pointed excitedly to everything around us, “Look at this! Look at that!” I couldn’t help but think that 8 hours of this could make for a very long flight!
We chatted for a while until she suddenly got quiet. She pulled her blanket up around her, so I thought maybe she was going to doze off. I quickly took advantage of the break and reached for the nearest magazine. But before I could open it, I felt a little elbow in my side. I looked down at her, and she threw out her little hand and said, “Hey, Joe, wanna be friends?”
My heart melted. “Sure,” I said, “let’s be friends.”
In the midst of the turmoil of life, when we think all we want is to be left alone, Jesus extends His nail-scarred hand and invites us to be His friends. He says, “I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15). We have a choice: to keep to ourselves, or to open our heart to a friendship of unlimited love and guidance.
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry

【明報專訊】國家禽流感參考實驗室目前仍在化驗，導致廣東番禺大量鴨子死亡的病毒是否高致病性的H5N1禽流感。政府消息透露，一旦證實造成大量死鴨的是H5N1病毒，港府極有可能即時宣布全面停止廣東省雞鵝鴨進口最少21日，不論鮮活或冰鮮冷藏無一豁免，意味下周中秋期間只有本地每天約3萬活雞應市。
最少停21日 中秋供應緊絀
香港大學微生物學系教授袁國勇指出，本港禽流感防範措施已做到亞洲區內「防得最安全」，市民毋須太恐慌，但港府仍面對走私雞和街市仍有活雞此兩大爆疫漏洞。
根據國際慣例及國際獸疫局指引，若某國家及地區有農場爆發H5N1禽流感，其他國家或地區會暫停進口該產地家禽及禽肉製品，以防禽流感流入。食衛局發言人連日來亦強調，若番禺個案確診為H5N1，「會採取相應措施預防禽流感」。
政府消息指出，雖然當局上周五才宣布在中秋節期間，將內地進口活雞數量，由每日2萬隻增至每日7萬隻，但考慮到公眾健康和防疫的大前提，若番禺證實爆H5N1，當局極大機會將即時暫停進口來自廣東省的家禽，此決定最重要的考慮因素，是今次並非個別鴨場出現零星禽流個案，而是多達9個鴨場相繼爆發疫情。
不過，本港多個活雞和冰鮮家禽批發及零售商會暫未聽聞有關安排。目前內地每日供港活雞有2萬隻，冰鮮雞則達10萬隻，港九新界家禽批發及零售商會主席黃偉泉說，預料中秋活雞需求高達每日10萬隻，若只有港產3萬隻雞應市，會出現嚴重供不應求，雞價升到「不能想像」。
餐飲聯業協會主席黃家和指出，由於廣東省是供港家禽的主要來源地，部分食肆亦有從番禺及粵北一帶進口鴨，協會正緊密關注是次禽流感爆發事件，擔心一旦牽連雞隻入口影響供應，屆時不但來價上漲，甚至可能斷貨，燒味、酒樓業界均非常擔心事態的發展。
倘證實疫苗無效 意味病毒變種
對於番禺爆疫鴨場被指一向有接種預防禽流感疫苗，港大感染及傳染病中心副總監何良說，若疫苗是有效的正貨，並替活鴨打足兩針，而疫症依然爆發，意味禽流感病毒或變種至疫苗也無法對付。
港大微生物學系系主任袁國勇解釋，雖然水禽本身是禽流感病毒的宿主，但以往也有發現鴨場爆疫，至於是次番禺鴨場爆疫令大量鴨子死亡，是否反映病毒變得殺傷力更強，他坦言「也有此可能」，故內地當局必須做病毒基因排序分析，以及抗原測試，以確認現時廣泛為家禽農場接種疫苗是否仍然有效。
袁國勇說，政府刻下應加緊防範走私雞流入，盡快實施中央屠宰，以防市民仍能從街市接觸到活家禽，至於禽流感病毒在候鳥和雀仔街傳播的風險，則只能提醒市民不要接觸雀鳥。
