馬可福音

10:1	耶穌從那裏起身，來到猶太的境界並約旦河外。眾人又聚集到他那況，他又照常教訓他們。
10:2	有法利賽人來問他說：“人休妻可以不可以？”意思要試探他。
10:3	耶穌回答說：“摩西吩咐你們的是甚麼？”
10:4	他們說：“摩西許人寫了休書便可以休妻。”
10:5	耶穌說：“摩西因為你們的心硬，所以寫這條例給你們。
10:6	但從起初創造的時候，　神造人是造男造女。

10:2　法利賽人企圖用這個問題來引耶穌跌入設定的圈套裡：如果耶穌說可以，就是支持他們的觀點。如果祂說不可以，群眾中一些曾藉律法取巧、為著私利休了妻的人就會反對祂；更嚴重的是會惹起希律的憤怒，施洗約翰就是因為反對希律休妻和斥責他通奸（6:17-28）而招殺身之禍的。法利賽人正希望藉此機會剷除耶穌。
　　法利賽人視休妻為法律上的問題，而非屬靈上的事情。耶穌抓著他們的試探，乘機重申神訂立婚姻的目的，並揭露法利賽人自私的動機。他們並不思考神對婚姻的期望，只滿足於為方便而結婚。另外，他們這樣斷章取義地引用摩西的話並不公正。耶穌指出這些律法專家的知識其實膚淺得很。
